The changing face of Queen Creek

Queen Creek is one of the fastest growing areas in Arizona, not only for housing developments but for retail, as well.

The town just broke ground on a new shopping and restaurant center.

The QC District is anchored in the Queen Creek Town Center and will house new shopping, restaurants and entertainment options on about 20 acres of land. The project has been in the works for about three years.

The first phase will open with stores like HomeGoods and Sprouts, and restaurants like Red Robin, Cafe Rio and Starbucks.

Phase two of the project will be a bit different, and those who live in “The QC” are excited.

“We are looking at the possibility of a hotel and family entertainment center coming into that same area,” Mayor Gail Barney said. “It feels like an overnight success, but our staff of people in the Economic Development Department have been working their tails off for 10 years to make this growth happen.”

The QC District is expected to open this summer.
