PHX East Valley Houses the Cream of the Crop in Agritainment

PHX East Valley (June 3, 2015) – The rural setting and unique nature of farm businesses in Arizona’s PHX East Valley region provides an opportunity for farmers to take advantage of the new and growing demand for agritainment. As interest in how food is produced and delivered is increasing, visits to farms are becoming an increasingly popular leisure activity.

“Agritainment popularity has grown exponentially over the last several years and the PHX East Valley has beautiful, working farming locations where visitors can experience authentically grown food with a wholesome family feel,” said Roc Arnett, president of East Valley Partnership.

Queen Creek offers a host of cultural and agritainment activities for visitors to enjoy.

Designated as an Arizona treasure, Schnepf Farms is a family-owned working farm providing entertainment, education and delicious, locally grown fruits and vegetables. The venue is enjoyed by more than a quarter of a million people during the year. Through seasonal festivals, weddings, concerts and events, Schnepf Farms is one of the largest agri-tourist farms in the country.

Schnepf Farms is the largest peach grower in the state, all organic and pesticide free. This year the farm is celebrating 50 years of growing peaches in Arizona and held its 20th annual spring peach festival – a must do experience in Arizona.

Across from the farm, the Queen Creek Olive Mill is Arizona’s only working olive farm and mill. Located on 100 acres, the mill has over 7,000 trees and is solely dedicated to the production of extra virgin olive oil. Known as the olive oil empire of Arizona, the mill supplies the Valley and its surrounding cities with farm fresh, local food and extra virgin olive oil.

The Queen Creek Olive Mill has created an agritourism atmosphere to allow for more of a destination and experience, in addition to its general store. While known for its extra virgin olive oil, the mill also offers balsamic vinegars, stuffed olives, tapenades and spreads, gift boxes, butters, lotions and soaps.
