From 3-D Printed Cars to Pizza?

Like anybody with a pulse, I love a good slice of pizza. While there is a nimiety of options across the Valley for excellent pizza, there’s apparently a new choice for those who prefer to say in for dinner.

And a growing Valley Company played a hand it its development.

Chandler-based Local Motors has made a name for itself with its crowdsourced vehicle designs as well as the first 3-D printed car.

Two years ago, Local Motors inked a deal with General Electric to bring its crowdsourced, microfactory concept to the home appliance game. GE’s latest product out of that effort is a $10,000 pizza oven that prepares restaurant-style pizza at home.  Local Motors white-labeled its microfactory platform for GE, which wanted to take greater control over its manufacturing and seek a new model for the appliance industry by crowdsourcing new designs.
