Phoenix ( Feb. 4, 2016) Interested in starting your own business? ASU Startup School is offering a free startup and business training course, funded and supported by ASU Entrepreneurship + Innovation, The East Valley Entrepreneurship Center at Mesa Community College, City of Mesa Economic Development and Mesa THINKspot. Online course materials are paired with a series of facilitated workshops led by business faculty from MCC to help entrepreneurs learn what they need to do to develop a successful venture.
“Partnering with Mesa THINKspot and other libraries to provide our local entrepreneurs access to ASU Startup School is a way for us to help our communities grow, innovate and thrive,” said Ji Mi Choi, Associate Vice-President of Strategic Partnerships and Programs at Arizona State University.
To register, you must do both of the following:
1. Register for each Tuesday evening facilitated workshop (March 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29) on Mesa Public Library’s events calendar at www.MesaLibrary.org
2. Register for access to online course materials for Startup School at https://entrepreneurship.asu.edu/startup-school
The workshop outline is as follows:
• Week 1: Intro to Entrepreneurship
• Week 2: Creating an Idea 1 (problem + opportunity identification)
• Week 3: Creating an Idea 2 (ideation + design thinking)
• Week 4: Creating an Idea 3 (value proposition + competitive advantage)
• Week 5: Determining the Types of People You’ll Serve (customer segmentation)
Stage 2 will begin April 5 and those who complete all sessions of Stage 1 and Stage 2 are eligible to enter the MCC Entrepreneurship Certificate program, with the entry course EPS 150 Introduction to Entrepreneurship waived.
ASU Startup School is a valuable opportunity for all types of entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial thinkers to move from an idea to a sustainable venture, including small businesses, social enterprises, high-tech startups, corporate innovators and community organizers.
