Benchmark Electronics will land a new corporate headquarters in Tempe at the Rio 2100 development.

Rio 2100 development sits on 52-acres at the Loop 101 and Loop 202 freeways.

Benchmark moved its headquarters from Houston to Arizona earlier this year.

It currently has space in Scottsdale with plans to grow its new Tempe base to 500 workers over the next five years.

“This is an exciting time for our company as we look forward to our new headquarters, which will allow us to grow in a single, cohesive location,” said Paul Tufano, president and CEO of Benchmark. “Rio 2100 is an ideal location to drive organizational alignment and attract and develop top-notch talent, as already evidenced in our strategic partnership with Arizona State University.”

The Boyer Cos. and Tellurian Development Co. are developing Rio 2100.

JLL  Managing Director Andrew Medley represented Benchmark while CBRE (NYSE: CBG) Senior Vice President Bryan Taute represented Boyer and the Rio 2100 developers.

“Benchmark is a tremendously forward-thinking company,” said Medley. “They had a vision for their new corporate headquarters and this development will more than fulfill those expectations with an exceptionally centralized location and a collaborative work environment designed to attract and retain the industry’s top talent.”

Benchmark hit a 52-week high closing at $35.45 on Wednesday, according to Google Finance.

The site selection is a win for Tempe, which has landed a number of big projects and developments.

“Tempe is known as a destination for tech companies, such as Microsoft, Amazon, GoDaddy and now Benchmark,” Tempe Mayor Mark Mitchell said. “We appreciate Benchmark’s investment in Tempe and the jobs they are bringing to our community.”
