Edmonton, Alberta-based Silent-Aire USA Inc. has expanded and opened its U.S. headquarters in Gilbert and plans to hire up to 250 employees over the next two years.

Silent-Aire manufactures and designs custom air handling equipment, with a specialization in data center cooling. It also builds modular data centers.

The company first moved into a 55,000-square-foot office in Gilbert in 2013, which the company is keeping for a warehouse and future production.

The new 146,000-square-foot manufacturing facility expands Silent-Aire’s production capabilities and officially becomes the U.S. headquarters, said Brett Manning, Silent-Aire’s vice president of U.S. operations.

“We chose Gilbert because we were very encouraged at the level of the public-private collaboration,” Manning said. “The town of Gilbert has been very welcoming to us. We also like the greater Valley area.”

Silent-Aire also likes the access to transportation infrastructure, the skilled labor pool and the local universities for engineering and personnel talent, Manning said.

The new facility south of the Loop 202 between Gilbert and Lindsay roads employs over 300. The company plans to hire another 200 to 250 people over the next 18 to 24 months.
